Okuma OSP Alarm A 8576 - Grinding whl spindle unit interlock

Grinding whl spindle unit interlock

A grinding wheel (whetstone) spindle command was issued while the interlock conditions for the grinding spindle were not satisfied. The control blocks the wheel from starting when the operation mode or turret position does not permit grinding.

Common Causes

  • Grinding spindle commanded with the operation box AUTO/MANUAL switch set to MANUAL
  • Grinding spindle commanded while the turret is not indexed to the whetstone position

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Grinding spindle commanded with operation box AUTO/MANUAL switch at MANUAL; code 2 = Grinding spindle commanded with turret not at the whetstone position
  2. 2Read the code: 1 means the command came while the operation box AUTO/MANUAL switch was at MANUAL; 2 means the turret was not indexed to the whetstone position.
  3. 3For code 1, switch the operation box selector to AUTO before issuing the grinding wheel spindle command.
  4. 4For code 2, index the turret to the whetstone position first, confirm the index-complete signal, then start the grinding spindle.
  5. 5If the turret is at the whetstone position but the alarm persists, check the turret position confirmation switch and its wiring.
