Okuma OSP Alarm A 8572 - ATC step time over

ATC step time over

One step of the automatic tool changer (ATC) sequence took longer than 120 seconds, so the sequence was aborted. The code shows the limit switch status of each ATC component at the moment of the alarm, pointing at the step that stalled.

Common Causes

  • Failed limit or proximity switch for ATC sequence check
  • Cut wire in a switch input signal circuit
  • Failed hydraulic or air solenoid for ATC motion, or cut solenoid wire
  • Faulty hydraulic or air circuit starving an ATC motion

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XXXXXXXX = Limit switch status for each ATC component at the time of the alarm.
  2. 2Read the code, which is the limit switch status of each ATC component at alarm time, and open the 'ATC CONDITION' screen in AUTO, MDI or MANUAL OPERATION mode; the faulty ATC sequence limit switch is indicated there when the alarm is due to machine interference.
  3. 3Identify the stalled ATC step from the switch status, then physically check that mechanism: arm, magazine, gripper or door, for interference or jamming.
  4. 4Test the limit or proximity switch for that step for correct operation and inspect its wiring for a cut or loose connection.
  5. 5Check the hydraulic or air solenoid valve driving that ATC motion: confirm it is energized when commanded and that pressure actually reaches the actuator.
  6. 6Repair the faulty switch, wire, solenoid or hydraulic/air circuit found, then re-run the ATC sequence step by step to confirm each motion completes within its time limit.
