Okuma OSP Alarm A 8583 - ATC change arm overload

ATC change arm overload

During the ATC tool change cycle, the torque on the ATC exchange arm exceeded its set limit. This indicates the arm met excessive resistance, typically from a jammed tool, misalignment, or a mechanical obstruction in the change path.

Common Causes

  • Tool or pot jammed in the exchange arm gripper
  • Misalignment between the arm, spindle, and magazine pot
  • Mechanical obstruction or debris in the arm travel path
  • Damaged arm mechanism causing binding during the change cycle

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop the tool change cycle and do not force the arm with servo power.
  2. 2Using the pulse handle, manually move the ATC exchange arm away from the interference position as directed by the manual.
  3. 3Once clear, inspect the arm grippers, the tool, and the magazine pot for a jammed tool, chips, or debris.
  4. 4Check alignment of the arm to the spindle and pot, and look for bent or damaged arm components.
  5. 5Remove any obstruction, correct the cause, then re-run the tool change cycle; if the overload repeats, record the alarm and contact Okuma service.
