The control refused an action because the ceiling door was open at the wrong moment, or someone tried to open it while the machine was busy. With the door interlock function ON, motions like running the spindle, moving axes, indexing the turret, running the M-tool spindle, operating peripheral units, or rotating the sub-spindle are all blocked until the ceiling door is shut.

Okuma OSP Alarm A 8598 - Ceiling door interlock
Ceiling door interlock
The control refused an action because the ceiling door was open at the wrong moment, or someone tried to open it while the machine was busy. With the door interlock function ON, motions like running the spindle, moving axes, indexing the turret, running the M-tool spindle, operating peripheral units, or rotating the sub-spindle are all blocked until the ceiling door is shut.
Common Causes
Ceiling door opened (or attempted) during machine motion with door interlock ON
Rotation command above the allowable maximum spindle speed with interlock release switch ON outside single block
Turret indexing from the subcontrol panel button while the ceiling door was not closed
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Spindle rotation attempted with ceiling door open; code 2 = M-tool spindle rotation attempted with ceiling door open; code 3 = Axis movement attempted with ceiling door open; code 4 = Turret indexing attempted with ceiling door open; code 5 = Rotation command above allowable max spindle speed with interlock release switch ON outside single block; code 6 = Axis transfer above limit in the code-5 state; code 7 = Turret rotation command in MDI mode in the code-5 state; code 8 = Turret indexing by subcontrol panel button with ceiling door not closed
2Read the code: 1 spindle rotation, 2 M-tool spindle rotation, 3 axis movement, 4 turret indexing, 5 rotation command above allowable max speed with door interlock type active, interlock release switch ON, and not in single block, 6 axis transfer above limit in the code-5 state, 7 turret rotation command in MDI in the code-5 state, 8 turret indexing by the subcontrol panel button with the ceiling door not closed.
3Close the ceiling door fully and confirm the door-closed limit switch makes before restarting the operation.
4For codes 5-7, reduce the commanded speed below the allowable maximum spindle speed for the interlock-released state, or work in single block mode.
5For code 8, close the ceiling door before using the turret indexing button on the subcontrol panel.
6If the door is closed but the alarm persists, check the ceiling door closed limit switch and its wiring.
