Okuma OSP Alarm A 8617 - Thru-the-tool coolant filter clogged

Thru-the-tool coolant filter clogged

The clogging detection pressure switch on the thru-the-tool coolant tank filter has tripped, indicating the filter is restricted. The code shows which pump was running when the restriction was detected.

Common Causes

  • Thru-the-tool coolant filter element genuinely clogged with swarf/chips
  • Clogging detection pressure switch faulty or its wiring damaged

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Detected while the high-pressure through-spindle coolant pump ON signal was being output; code 2 = Detected while the washing gun motor ON signal was being output
  2. 2Read the code: Code 1 means the alarm occurred while the high-pressure through-spindle coolant pump ON signal was being output; Code 2 means it occurred while the washing gun motor ON signal was output.
  3. 3Clean the filter in the thru-the-tool coolant tank; replace the element if cleaning does not restore flow.
  4. 4Run the pump indicated by the code and confirm the alarm clears and pressure normalizes.
  5. 5If the filter is clean but the alarm persists, test the clogging detection pressure switch and its wiring; replace the switch if it stays tripped with a clean filter.
