Okuma OSP Alarm A 8619 - Machine axis travel limit over

Machine axis travel limit over

The travel-end limit switch on a machine axis such as the straight axis of the ATC carrier, AAC carrier, or APC carrier has tripped, meaning the carrier has driven past its allowed stroke. The control also raises this alarm if the PLC axis emergency stop signal drops out, so the cause can be electrical rather than an actual overtravel.

Common Causes

  • Carrier axis actually driven to the travel-end limit switch (ATC/AAC/APC carrier straight axis)
  • Machine axis parameter (stroke/travel data) set incorrectly so the control thinks the axis is out of range
  • Faulty or sticking travel-end limit switch
  • PLC axis emergency stop signal turned OFF by a wiring or PLC-side fault

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Look at the carrier axis (ATC, AAC, or APC) and confirm whether it is physically sitting against the travel-end limit switch; if it is, move it back inside the stroke in the manual mode allowed for recovery.
  2. 2If the axis is clearly mid-travel and not on the switch, check the PLC axis emergency stop signal in the PLC monitor to see whether it has dropped OFF, and trace that input circuit.
  3. 3Inspect the travel-end limit switch itself: check for a stuck plunger, coolant or chip contamination, and a loose or damaged cable/connector at the switch.
  4. 4Verify the machine axis parameter for that carrier axis matches the actual stroke; a wrong value makes the control declare overtravel at a normal position.
  5. 5If the switch and wiring check out but the alarm persists, replace the limit switch and retest the carrier through its full travel.
