Okuma OSP Alarm A 8612 - APC interlock

APC interlock

An automatic pallet changer (APC) clamp or unclamp command was issued under an illegal condition: either while the spindle was rotating or while the C-axis was connected. The interlock prevents pallet motion that would be dangerous with the spindle live.

Common Causes

  • APC clamp/unclamp commanded while spindle still rotating
  • APC clamp/unclamp commanded while C-axis connected
  • Program sequence issues the APC command before the spindle stop is confirmed

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = APC clamp/unclamp command was issued while the spindle was rotating.; code 2 = APC clamp/unclamp command was issued while the C-axis is connected.
  2. 2Read the code on the alarm screen: code 1 means the APC clamp/unclamp command was issued while the spindle was in rotation; code 2 means it was issued while the C-axis is connected.
  3. 3For code 1, edit the program or sequence so the spindle is fully stopped (M05 and spindle stop confirmed) before the APC clamp/unclamp command is executed.
  4. 4For code 2, release the C-axis connection before issuing the APC clamp/unclamp command so the pallet mechanism is not moved with the C-axis engaged.
  5. 5Re-run the pallet change sequence in single block and confirm each precondition (spindle stopped, C-axis released) is met before the clamp/unclamp step.
