Okuma OSP Alarm A 8570 - Magazine tool No.

Magazine tool No.

The tool-presence proximity switch at the magazine ATC position disagrees with the tool data shown for the pot currently indexed there on the ATC MAGAZINE INFORMATION screen. In other words, the NC thinks a tool is present or absent, but the sensor says the opposite.

Common Causes

  • Wrong or missing tool data entered for the indexed magazine pot on the ATC MAGAZINE INFORMATION screen
  • Magazine tool presence confirmation proximity switch misadjusted, contaminated, or failed
  • Signal wire disconnected, connector loose, or cable damaged between the proximity switch and input
  • Wrong pot indexed to the magazine ATC position or a tool physically present where the screen shows empty

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = The ATC magazine screen has tool data for the indexed pot, but the tool-presence proximity switch is OFF.; code 2 = The ATC magazine screen has no tool data for the indexed pot, but the tool-presence proximity switch is ON.
  2. 2Note the code and the pot number indexed at the magazine ATC position, then compare three things: physical tool in that pot, ATC MAGAZINE INFORMATION screen data, and the proximity-switch input state.
  3. 3Code 1: the screen shows a tool but the switch is OFF; check whether a tool is truly in the pot, then inspect the proximity switch target, gap, mounting, and connector before replacing the switch.
  4. 4Code 2: the screen shows no tool but the switch is ON; look for an unexpected tool, swarf/oil on the sensor face, a stuck-ON switch, or a shorted signal line.
  5. 5Correct the ATC MAGAZINE INFORMATION screen data for that indexed pot so it matches the actual tool condition, then index the same pot again and confirm the alarm clears.
  6. 6Index several adjacent pots and verify the proximity input turns ON only for pots that physically contain tools; if it does not track, lock out power around the ATC and check the sensor wiring for opens or shorts.
  7. 7If screen data, physical tools, sensor alignment, and wiring all check out but the mismatch returns, record the pot number and code and contact Okuma service.
