Okuma OSP Alarm A 8566 - Tool clamp interlock

Tool clamp interlock

A tool clamp command was issued while the conditions required to execute it were not met. On H2 turret machines the turret must be indexed to its base position, clamped, and the M-spindle stopped before the clamp command is valid.

Common Causes

  • Program error issuing the tool clamp command at the wrong time
  • Turret not indexed to the base position (0 or 180 degrees)
  • Turret not clamped when the command was issued
  • M-spindle still rotating when the clamp command was issued

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Turret is not indexed to the base position (0 or 180 degrees).; code 2 = Turret is not clamped.; code 3 = M-spindle is rotating.
  2. 2Read the code on screen to identify which condition failed: 1 = turret not at base position, 2 = turret not clamped, 3 = M-spindle rotating.
  3. 3Code 1: index the turret to the base position (0 or 180 degrees) before issuing the tool clamp command.
  4. 4Code 2: clamp the turret first, then reissue the tool clamp command.
  5. 5Code 3: stop the M-spindle and confirm it is fully stationary before commanding the tool clamp.
  6. 6Correct the program sequence so the tool clamp command is only issued after the turret is at base position, clamped, and the M-spindle is stopped.
