Okuma OSP Alarm C 3774 - EC circuit breaker

EC circuit breaker

A circuit breaker in the EC (electrical cabinet) control circuit has tripped. The code identifies which breaker tripped, helping locate the shorted circuit.

Common Causes

  • An EC power circuit is shorted
  • Overload on one of the EC control circuits
  • Failing component drawing excess current on a breaker branch

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code none/1 = 1st circuit breaker of the EC tripped; code 2 = 2nd circuit breaker of the EC tripped; code 3 = 3rd circuit breaker of the EC tripped; code 4 = 4th circuit breaker of the EC tripped; code 5 = 5th circuit breaker of the EC tripped; code 6 = 6th circuit breaker of the EC tripped; code 7 = 7th circuit breaker of the EC tripped
  2. 2Read the code: no code or 1 means the 1st EC circuit breaker tripped, 2 the 2nd, 3 the 3rd, 4 the 4th, 5 the 5th, 6 the 6th, 7 the 7th circuit breaker of the EC.
  3. 3Open the electrical cabinet and identify the tripped breaker by its position; do not reset it repeatedly without finding the cause.
  4. 4Inspect the branch circuit fed by the tripped breaker for signs of a short: burnt smell, chafed wires, coolant in connectors, or a failed component.
  5. 5After clearing the fault, turn on the EC circuit breaker as the manual directs and watch whether it holds.
  6. 6If the breaker trips again immediately, the EC power circuit is still shorted; isolate the branch devices one at a time to find the faulty load.
