Okuma OSP Alarm C 3785 - Spindle lubrication unit

Spindle lubrication unit

The control detected a fault in the spindle lubrication unit. Specifically, the clogged-filter detection signal stayed OFF for 2 seconds or longer, indicating the spindle lubrication filter is blocked and oil flow to the spindle is restricted. Note this signal is not monitored during the first 8 seconds after a control reset.

Common Causes

  • Spindle lubrication filter element clogged with sludge or debris
  • Contaminated or degraded spindle lubrication oil blocking the filter
  • Clogged-filter detection switch/signal wiring fault causing a false OFF signal

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Spindle lubrication filter is clogged; the clogged-filter signal remained OFF for 2 seconds or longer (signal not checked for 8 seconds after control reset)
  2. 2Read the code on the alarm screen; Code 1 means the clogged spindle lubrication filter signal stayed OFF for 2 seconds or more.
  3. 3Locate the spindle lubrication unit filter and remove the element; inspect it for sludge, metal particles, or varnish buildup.
  4. 4Clean the spindle lubrication filter element as the manual directs, or replace it if cleaning does not restore it; check the oil in the lubrication tank for contamination and change it if dirty.
  5. 5If the alarm returns with a clean filter, check the clogged-filter detection switch and its wiring/connector at the lubrication unit for a stuck switch or broken signal line.
  6. 6If the alarm persists after these checks, record the alarm number, code, and object and contact Okuma service.
