Okuma OSP Alarm C 3894 - Spindle lubrication controller error

Spindle lubrication controller error

The CNC is watching the spindle lubrication controller's healthy/error inputs and saw the expected signal stay OFF too long. At the machine this means the spindle lube system is not positively confirming normal lubrication, so the control is protecting the spindle from running without verified oil delivery.

Common Causes

  • Spindle lubricant controller alarm output I.025C dropping out for 1 second or more
  • Spindle lube oil controller error switch input I.0246 staying OFF longer than 2 seconds
  • Loose connector, broken wire, or failed relay/contact between the lube controller and CNC input
  • Low oil level, no lube pressure, or an internal fault in the spindle lubrication controller

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Spindle lubricant controller alarm/healthy signal I.025C stayed OFF for one second or longer.; code 2 = Spindle lube oil controller error switch input I.0246 stayed OFF for more than two seconds.
  2. 2Read the code on the alarm screen first: Code 1 points to input I.025C being OFF for about 1 second; Code 2 points to error-switch input I.0246 remaining OFF for more than 2 seconds.
  3. 3At the spindle lube controller, check its status/alarm indication and confirm oil level and that the unit actually builds lube pressure during a commanded cycle.
  4. 4For Code 1, monitor whether I.025C flickers or stays OFF while the spindle/lube system runs; look for a marginal relay contact or vibration-sensitive connector.
  5. 5For Code 2, verify the error switch circuit to I.0246 is closed when the controller is healthy and is not being held open by a failed switch or wiring fault.
  6. 6With machine power locked out, reseat and inspect the connectors and wiring from the spindle lubrication controller to the CNC input terminals before condemning the controller.
  7. 7If the wiring and inputs are correct but the controller never asserts its healthy signal, replace the spindle lubrication controller; if the alarm returns, record class C 3894, the code, and contact Okuma service.
