Okuma OSP Alarm D 4085 - Fan motor error at panel computer unit

Fan motor error at panel computer unit

The rotational speed of a cooling fan motor on the panel computer unit is out of the regular range. The code identifies whether the CPU fan or the power supply fan is failing.

Common Causes

  • Cooling fan motor of the panel computer unit worn or failed
  • Dust buildup slowing the fan
  • Fan power connector or wiring problem

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 10101 = CPU cooling fan motor out of regular speed range; code 10201 = Power supply cooling fan motor out of regular speed range
  2. 2Read the code: 10101 identifies the CPU fan, 10201 identifies the power supply fan of the panel computer unit.
  3. 3Open the panel computer unit cover and check the identified fan for dust buildup; blow out dust with clean dry air.
  4. 4Spin the fan by hand with power off to feel for bearing drag; a stiff or noisy bearing means the fan is failing.
  5. 5Check the fan power connector is fully seated and the wiring is not pinched.
  6. 6Change the cooling fan motor immediately as the manual directs, because continued running will shorten the life of the instruments.
