Okuma OSP Alarm C 3793 - Coolant level low

Coolant level low

The float switch in the coolant tank turned OFF the coolant level normal signal, meaning the coolant level is low. The code shows which coolant command was active or how the low level was detected, so coolant-dependent operations are stopped to protect pumps and tooling.

Common Causes

  • Coolant tank level genuinely low from evaporation, carry-off or leaks
  • Float switch in the coolant tank stuck or faulty
  • Coolant leak at lines, joints or the machine bed draining the tank
  • High pressure through-spindle coolant tank level low (code 9)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Coolant level normal signal OFF for more than 3 seconds.; code 2 = Tank level normal signal went OFF when the coolant command was issued.; code 3 = Tank level normal signal went OFF when the oil hole (through-spindle coolant) command was issued.; code 4 = Tank level normal signal went OFF when the shower coolant command was issued.; code 5 = Tank level normal signal went OFF when the chip flush-out command was issued.; code 6 = Tank level normal signal went OFF when the work washing gun command was issued.; code 8 = Tank level normal signal went OFF when the ANG head coolant command was issued.; code 9 = High pressure oil hole (through-spindle coolant) tank level low.
  2. 2Read the code: 1 means the level normal signal stayed OFF over 3 seconds; 2-6 and 8 mean the tank level normal signal went OFF when that coolant command (coolant, oil hole/through-spindle, shower, chip flush-out, work washing gun, ANG head) was issued; 9 means the high pressure through-spindle coolant tank is low.
  3. 3Open the coolant tank and confirm the actual level; top up with the correct coolant mixture as the manual's measure to supply fluid directs.
  4. 4If the level dropped, trace the coolant lines, bed channels and chip conveyor for leaks or excessive carry-off before refilling.
  5. 5If the level looks normal, test the float switch for free movement and continuity and check its wiring back to the input.
  6. 6Issue the coolant command named by the code and watch the level normal signal to confirm it stays ON through the cycle without re-alarming.
