Okuma OSP Alarm A 1831 - Sp. oil air lub. oil pressure error

Sp. oil air lub. oil pressure error

The control monitors the oil-air spindle lubrication pressure and found it outside the expected range. Either the pressure failed to build up when lubrication was commanded on, or it failed to bleed down after the output switched off, meaning the spindle may be running without proper lubrication.

Common Causes

  • Faulty or stuck pressure relief valve in the oil-air lubrication unit
  • Clogged filter or blocked lubrication piping
  • Weak or failing lubrication pump
  • Defective oil-air pressure monitor switch giving a false reading

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Lubricant pressure did not reach 1.2 MPa within 60 seconds after the oil-air lubrication output turned ON; code 2 = Lubricant pressure did not fall to 0.8 MPa before the lubrication output off-time elapsed
  2. 2Read the code on screen. Code 1 means pressure never reached 1.2 MPa within 60 seconds of the lubrication output turning ON; Code 2 means pressure never dropped to 0.8 MPa within the output off-time.
  3. 3For Code 1, check the oil-air unit tank level, then inspect the filter and piping for clogs or kinks that would prevent pressure buildup.
  4. 4Watch the pump run during a lubrication cycle; weak or no pump operation points to the pump or relief valve inside the unit.
  5. 5For Code 2, suspect a stuck relief valve or a pressure switch that is not releasing; verify the pressure actually falls with a gauge if fitted.
  6. 6If the hardware builds and bleeds pressure correctly but the alarm persists, replace the oil-air pressure monitor switch.
  7. 7If the unit itself is faulty, replace the oil-air lubrication unit as the manual directs; if the alarm returns after replacement, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
