Okuma OSP Alarm A 1851 - Air pressure insufficient

Air pressure insufficient

The control detected that the shop air supply feeding the machine has dropped below the required level, or the air pressure confirmation signal has turned off. Pneumatic functions such as the chuck, tailstock, turret, and air blast cannot be relied on until source pressure is restored.

Common Causes

  • Air line from the shop air source is disconnected or the supply valve is closed
  • Shop compressor pressure is too low or the compressor is not running
  • Leaking or kinked air hose between the source and the machine regulator
  • Faulty air pressure switch/sensor not sending the pressure-OK signal to the control

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the machine's air regulator/filter gauge and confirm the supply valve from the shop air line is fully open and the hose is connected at the machine inlet.
  2. 2Verify the shop compressor is running and delivering rated pressure; look for leaks, kinks, or water in the line from the source to the machine.
  3. 3If gauge pressure is normal but the alarm persists, check the air pressure detection switch and its wiring/connector to the control input — the signal may be off even with good pressure.
  4. 4Restore proper source pressure, then clear the alarm and cycle a pneumatic function (e.g. chuck clamp/unclamp) to confirm the pressure signal stays on.
