Okuma OSP Alarm A 1872 - Safety fence interlock

Safety fence interlock

The safety fence was opened while the loader (robot) was running. The fence is held shut by an electromagnet lock during loader operation, so an open fence means the lock switch failed or its wiring is broken.

Common Causes

  • Electromagnetic lock switch faulty
  • Wiring to the electromagnetic lock switch disconnected
  • Fence door forced open against the electromagnet lock

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Do not reach into the cell; stop loader operation and check that the safety fence door closes and the electromagnet lock engages.
  2. 2Inspect the electromagnetic lock switch and its wiring on the safety fence as the manual directs: the switch must change state when the lock engages and releases.
  3. 3Look for a disconnected or chafed wire between the fence and the control on the lock switch circuit.
  4. 4Test the electromagnet lock coil: it should hold the fence door closed whenever the loader (robot) is operating.
  5. 5Replace the electromagnetic lock switch if it does not read correctly, then verify the interlock holds during a loader cycle.
