Okuma OSP Alarm A 1941 - Safety guard interlock

Safety guard interlock

On a CE-spec machine with an OGL loader, a request was issued from the machine to the loader while the safety guard was unlocked, which is prohibited. The control blocked the request to keep the loader from operating with the guard open.

Common Causes

  • Operation or program error: a command to the loader was issued while the safety guard was unlocked
  • Safety guard limit switch out of adjustment or failed, so the guard state is misread

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = In loader gantry mode, the machine requested loader motion while the safety guard was unlocked
  2. 2Read the code on screen: Code 1 means that in loader gantry mode the machine sent a request to the loader while the safety guard was in the unlocked state.
  3. 3Check the operation sequence or program: make sure no loader request is commanded until the safety guard is confirmed locked; correct the operating method or program step.
  4. 4Verify the guard is actually closing and locking; then check the limit switches on the safety fence and front door for correct actuation.
  5. 5Adjust the safety guard limit switches if they do not change state cleanly at the locked position, or replace a failed switch.
  6. 6If the alarm persists with the guard locking correctly and switches verified, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
