Okuma OSP Alarm A 1849 - Workpiece unloading unit interlock

Workpiece unloading unit interlock

A work-out (workpiece unloading) unit command was issued under an illegal condition, most commonly an up command while the spindle was rotating or with the unit, chuck, tailstock quill, backup roller or axes in conflicting positions. The code identifies the exact interlock violation.

Common Causes

  • Work-out unit up command issued before the spindle fully stopped
  • Spindle rotation commanded with the work-out unit not at the lower end
  • Work-out unit commanded with the tailstock quill, backup roller or chuck in a conflicting state
  • XB/ZB axis or B-turret moved while work-out unit hand/position conditions were not met
  • Work-out unit up/down commanded while axes move, the B-turret indexes, or the front door is not open

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Up command before the spindle completely stopped at the regular position.; code 2 = Spindle rotation with the work-out unit not at the lower end.; code 3 = Tailstock quill advance with the work-out unit not lowered.; code 4 = Up command with the tailstock quill not retracted.; code 5 = Up command with the backup roller not retracted.; code 6 = Up command while the spindle was moving.; code 7 = Spindle rotation with the work-out unit not lowered.; code 8 = Work-out unit left the lowered position while the spindle was moving.
  2. 2Read the code to find the exact violation: 1 up command before spindle stopped at regular position; 2/7 spindle rotation with unit not lowered; 3 quill advance with unit not lowered; 4 up with quill not retracted; 5 up with backup roller not retracted; 6 up while spindle moving; 8 unit left lowered position during spindle motion.
  3. 3Codes 9-24 cover hand/chuck/B-turret/door conflicts: 9 advance/retract with chuck closed; 10 chuck close with unit not retracted; 11 XB/ZB move conditions not met; 12 B-turret index with XB not at plus variable limit; 13 spindle rotation with hand not open; 14/24 up or down with chuck not opened; 15 turret index with hand not closed; 16/17 up position or front door conditions; 18 up/down during XB/ZB motion; 19 up during B-turret index; 20 hand not at unload position; 21/22 XB/ZB or B-turret with unit not down; 23 door close with unit not down.
  4. 4Stop the spindle fully and confirm zero speed at the regular position before commanding the work-out unit up.
  5. 5Sequence the work-out unit, chuck, tailstock quill, backup roller, XB/ZB axes, B-turret and front door in the order the code demands, waiting for each confirmation before the next command.
  6. 6Re-run the unload sequence in single block, confirming each position switch (lower end, retracted, hand open/closed) before issuing the next work-out unit command.
