The touch setter arm retract-position confirmation signal dropped out while the spindle, M-axis, or C-axis was rotating, or while the turret was moving/indexing outside MANUAL mode — or the advance-position signal dropped during a gauging cycle. The control stops to prevent the setter arm being struck by rotating or moving machine elements.

Touch setter limit
The touch setter arm retract-position confirmation signal dropped out while the spindle, M-axis, or C-axis was rotating, or while the turret was moving/indexing outside MANUAL mode — or the advance-position signal dropped during a gauging cycle. The control stops to prevent the setter arm being struck by rotating or moving machine elements.
Common Causes
Programming error: the gauging subprogram was called without designating M137 (correct sequence is M117 then CALL OTFRD)
Faulty EC input signal for sensor head position: I/O check NO.26 INPUT bit E (iSHRTC, retract) or bit F (iSHADC, advance)
Touch setter arm not fully retracted due to air pressure, sticking cylinder, or misadjusted position switch
Both advance and retract signals ON simultaneously, or right/left retract signals ON together (code 13/14/15) indicating a wiring or switch fault
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Arm retract signal OFF during spindle rotation; code 2 = Arm retract signal OFF during M-axis rotation; code 3 = Arm retract signal OFF during C-axis rotation; code 4 = Arm retract signal OFF during turret movement; code 5 = Arm retract signal OFF during turret rotation; code 6 = Arm retract signal OFF with W-axis not at plus limit; code 7 = Arm retract signal OFF with spindle chuck not open; code 8 = Arm retract signal OFF with sub-spindle chuck not open
2Read the code on screen to see which condition lost the retract signal: 1 = spindle rotating, 2 = M-axis rotating, 3 = C-axis rotating, 4/5 = turret moving/indexing, 6 = W-axis not at plus limit, 7/8 = chuck not open, 9 = door not closed, 10 = advance signal lost mid-gauging-cycle, 11 = burr remover at retract end, 12 = setter advanced during coolant, 13/14/15 = contradictory switch states.
3If the alarm occurred during a gauging cycle, check the program: the gauging subprogram must be called with M137 designated (e.g. M117 / CALL OTFRD). Correct the call sequence and retry.
4If not related to gauging, watch I/O check NO.26 INPUT bit E (iSHRTC) and bit F (iSHADC) while manually advancing and retracting the touch setter arm; the retract bit must be ON whenever the arm is parked.
5If the retract bit flickers or stays OFF with the arm visibly parked, inspect the arm's retract confirmation switch and its actuator, and check the setter air supply and cylinder for slow or incomplete retraction.
6For codes 13-15 (both signals ON at once), check for shorted wiring or a failed switch on the advance/retract, right/left retract, or cover open/close circuits.
7If the inputs check out and the alarm returns, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
