Okuma OSP Alarm A 1782 - Power sequence error

Power sequence error

A problem occurred in the machine's power ON/OFF sequence or in an axis control ON relay circuit, as identified by the code. The relay-controlled power circuit did not complete its expected sequence, so the control cannot enable the axes.

Common Causes

  • Faulty emergency OFF delay timer relay
  • Faulty NC axis control ON relay
  • Faulty PLC axis control ON relay
  • Wiring error in the relay-controlled power circuit

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 3 = A problem occurred during the power ON/OFF sequence.; code 4 = A problem occurred in the NC axis control ON relay circuit.; code 14 = A problem occurred in the PLC axis control ON relay circuit.
  2. 2Read the code: 3 means a problem during the power ON/OFF sequence, 4 means a problem in the NC axis control ON relay circuit, 14 means a problem in the PLC axis control ON relay circuit.
  3. 3For code 3, inspect the emergency OFF delay timer relay; the manual directs changing this timer relay when the power sequence fails.
  4. 4For code 4 or 14, inspect the corresponding NC or PLC axis control ON relay: check its coil voltage, contact condition and that it pulls in during the power-on sequence.
  5. 5Trace the relay-controlled power circuit wiring for loose terminals, burnt contacts or a miswired relay base.
  6. 6Replace the faulty timer relay or axis control ON relay as the manual directs, then run the power-on sequence and confirm each relay actuates in order.
