Okuma OSP Alarm A 1792 - Turret rotation interlock

Turret rotation interlock

A turret index (T code) command was issued while one of the turret indexing conditions was not satisfied, or with an improper index range. The control blocked the rotation to prevent a collision; the code identifies exactly which interlock condition failed.

Common Causes

  • Turret index commanded while the mating axis (ZA, ZB or W) is not at its index/positive-limit position
  • Steady rest, work rest or work conveyor not in the required retracted/down position
  • Turret index interlock parameter not set or set incorrectly for the machine configuration
  • Index command issued with an improper index range

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 5 = Index command issued with an improper index range, or turret moved with improper index range.; code 6 = Index command issued with improper index range parameter data.; code 7 = Index command issued while turret is indexed at an improper range, or turret moved with improper index range.; code 9 = Turret A rotation commanded while turret B's X and Z axes are not at the positive limit.; code 10 = Steady-rest-equipped turret B indexed while the index interlock parameter is not set.; code 14 = Turret B index commanded while the work rest is not in the down position.; code 15 = Index commanded while the work conveyor is not retracted.; code 16 = Index commanded while the ZB axis is not at its index position.
  2. 2Read the alarm code on screen and correct the matching condition before re-issuing the T code.
  3. 3Code 9: move turret B's X and Z axes to the positive limit before commanding turret A rotation.
  4. 4Code 14: lower the work rest to the down position; Code 15: retract the work conveyor; Code 16: position the ZB axis at its index position; Code 20: position the ZA axis at its index position; Code 19: move the W-axis to the positive limit.
  5. 5Code 17: switch the steady rest switch OFF before indexing turret B; Code 10/18: check the turret index interlock parameter setting matches the machine (steady rest / B-turret configuration).
  6. 6Codes 5, 6, 7: the index range commanded or the index range parameter data is improper; correct the commanded pot range or the parameter data.
  7. 7If the alarm recurs with all conditions visibly satisfied, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
