Okuma OSP Alarm A 1821 - Magazine door lock error

Magazine door lock error

The control detected a mismatch between the magazine door magnetic lock signal and the door's lock/close limit switches, or the door close switch dropped out while the magazine or ATC was moving. On doors with a mechanical lock switch, it also trips when locked or unlocked status is not confirmed within one second of operating the switch. This protects the operator from the magazine or ATC moving with the door open.

Common Causes

  • Faulty magazine door magnetic lock switch or a cut wire in its circuit
  • Magazine door close limit switch faulty or misadjusted so it drops out during magazine/ATC motion
  • Same faults on the sub magazine door magnetic lock or close limit switch
  • Mechanical lock switch not confirming locked/unlocked state within one second (wiring or switch fault)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Magazine door magnetic lock signal stayed ON while the lock limit switch stayed OFF for a second or more; code 2 = Magazine door close limit switch turned OFF while the magazine was rotating or the ATC moving; code 3 = Sub magazine door magnetic lock signal ON with its lock limit switch OFF for a second or more; code 4 = Sub magazine door close limit switch turned OFF during sub magazine rotation or ATC movement; code 5 = Locked status not confirmed within a second of setting the mechanical lock switch to LOCK; code 6 = Unlocked status not confirmed within a second of operating the mechanical lock switch
  2. 2Read the code to identify the circuit: codes 1/2 = main magazine door, codes 3/4 = sub magazine door, codes 5/6 = mechanical lock switch confirmation failure.
  3. 3For codes 1 or 3 (lock signal ON but lock limit switch OFF for over a second), inspect the magnetic lock switch wiring for a cut or pinched wire and check the connector before condemning the switch.
  4. 4For codes 2 or 4 (close limit switch dropped out during magazine/ATC movement), open and close the door by hand and verify the close limit switch actuates positively; adjust its position or replace it if the signal flickers.
  5. 5For codes 5 or 6, operate the mechanical lock switch to LOCK/UNLOCK and confirm the status input changes within a second; check the switch and its wiring if confirmation is slow or missing.
  6. 6Replace the magnetic lock switch or limit switch only after wiring and adjustment checks fail.
  7. 7If the alarm returns after these checks, record the alarm number, code and object and contact Okuma service.
