Okuma OSP Alarm A 1829 - Sp. oil air lub. air pressure error

Sp. oil air lub. air pressure error

The control detected that air pressure feeding the spindle oil-air lubrication system dropped too low and stayed low for more than 30 seconds while air was being output. Without this air supply the spindle bearings lose their oil-air mist lubrication, so the control stops to protect the spindle.

Common Causes

  • Faulty air pump or leak/blockage in the air piping to the oil-air unit
  • Defective air pressure switch not confirming pressure
  • Damaged, kinked, or leaking oil-air plumbing lines
  • Failed oil-air pressure switch (PS) itself

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the shop air supply and the oil-air unit's air pump: confirm air is actually reaching the unit and listen/feel for leaks along the piping.
  2. 2Inspect the oil-air plumbing lines for kinks, cracks, loose fittings, or oil-soaked spots indicating a leak; repair or replace damaged sections.
  3. 3Verify the air pressure switch changes state when pressure is applied and released; if it stays in one state, replace the pressure switch.
  4. 4If the plumbing and switch check out, replace the air unit with a new one.
  5. 5If the alarm persists, replace the oil-air pressure PS (pressure switch) and re-test.
  6. 6If it returns after these checks, record the alarm number and contact Okuma service.
