Okuma OSP Alarm A 1784 - Turret clamp time over

Turret clamp time over

The turret clamp sequence did not complete within the allowed time, or the clamp confirmation was never received. The control stops because machining with an unclamped turret would destroy accuracy and tooling. The code identifies exactly which confirmation signal failed.

Common Causes

  • Clamp confirmation limit switch misadjusted or not being reached by the clamp mechanism
  • Low hydraulic oil pressure preventing full clamp stroke
  • Faulty clamp solenoid valve
  • Wrong offset data in the position encoder or wrong positioning data for the TA axis
  • B axis brake malfunction or its ON confirmation switch not closing

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = The turret clamp confirmation switch did not turn ON; code 2 = TA axis positioning did not complete; code 3 = The B axis brake ON confirmation switch did not turn ON
  2. 2Read the code: Code 1 means the turret clamp confirmation switch never turned ON, Code 2 means TA axis positioning did not finish, Code 3 means the B axis brake ON confirmation switch never turned ON.
  3. 3For Code 1, check hydraulic pressure to the clamp circuit first; low pressure is a common cause. Then watch the clamp limit switch during a clamp cycle and readjust it if the mechanism reaches clamp but the switch does not close.
  4. 4Check the clamp solenoid valve: confirm it is being energized and that the spool shifts; a stuck or dead valve blocks the clamp stroke.
  5. 5For Code 2, verify the TA axis positioning data and the position encoder offset data are correct; wrong data leaves the axis short of its target so clamping is never confirmed.
  6. 6For Code 3, inspect the B axis brake operation and its ON confirmation switch; repair or adjust the brake if it does not engage.
  7. 7If the alarm returns after these checks, record the alarm number, code and axis object and contact Okuma service.
