Okuma OSP Alarm A 1719 - Gear command/position mismatch

Gear command/position mismatch

While the spindle is rotating, the spindle speed range gear commanded by the program no longer matches the position reported by the spindle speed range gear position limit switch (LS). The gearbox is not in the gear the control thinks it is, so spindle speed would be wrong or damaging.

Common Causes

  • Spindle speed range gear position LS setting error
  • Gear position limit switch misadjusted or faulty
  • Gear shift mechanism not completing the change (hydraulic pressure, fork wear)
  • Gear position LS drifted out of adjustment after mechanical work

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Commanded speed range gear and gear position LS output disagree while the spindle rotates.; code 2 = Gear position LS still disagreed with the gear order after the selection command was retried.
  2. 2Read the code: 1 means the commanded gear and the gear position LS output disagree while the spindle rotates; 2 means the LS still disagreed after the gear selection command was retried.
  3. 3Stop the spindle, then command each spindle speed range gear in MDI and watch the gear position LS inputs to see which gear fails to confirm.
  4. 4Check the gear position limit switch setting as the manual points to LS setting error: adjust the switch so it actuates exactly when that gear is fully engaged.
  5. 5Inspect the gear shift hydraulic circuit and shift fork if a gear physically fails to engage; low shift pressure or a worn fork leaves the gearbox between gears.
  6. 6After adjustment, shift through all gears and verify each commanded gear matches its LS output before releasing the machine to production.
