Okuma OSP Alarm A 1728 - C-axis clamp/unclamp command not possible

C-axis clamp/unclamp command not possible

A C-axis clamp or unclamp command (M147/M146) was issued while the C-axis was not connected, or to a C-axis currently controlled by the other turret. The command is rejected because the C-axis is not in a state where clamping is valid.

Common Causes

  • Program error — M147 clamp commanded after M109 disconnected the C-axis
  • Operation error — M146/M147 entered in MDI while the C-axis is disconnected
  • C-axis under control of the opposite turret when the clamp command was issued

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Clamp/unclamp commanded while the C-axis is not connected; code 2 = Clamp/unclamp commanded to a C-axis controlled by the other turret
  2. 2Read the code: Code 1 means the C-axis was not connected when M146/M147 was commanded; Code 2 means the C-axis belongs to the other turret.
  3. 3For Code 1, check the program sequence — the manual example shows M109 (C-axis disconnect) followed by M147 (clamp); reconnect the C-axis before clamping.
  4. 4If the alarm came from MDI, do not issue M146/M147 manually unless the C-axis is connected; connect it first, then retry.
  5. 5For Code 2, verify which turret currently controls the C-axis and issue the clamp/unclamp from the correct side or after control is transferred.
  6. 6If the alarm persists with correct programming and operation, record the code and contact Okuma service.
