Okuma OSP Alarm A 1738 - Turret rotation impossible
A turret index command was issued while a condition that forbids turret rotation was active, such as a pulse-handle feed bit being set, the backlash adjustment bit being set, the turret not yet homed, or the high-pressure brake engaged. The control blocked the index to protect the turret mechanism.

Okuma OSP Alarm A 1738 - Turret rotation impossible
Turret rotation impossible
A turret index command was issued while a condition that forbids turret rotation was active, such as a pulse-handle feed bit being set, the backlash adjustment bit being set, the turret not yet homed, or the high-pressure brake engaged. The control blocked the index to protect the turret mechanism.
Common Causes
A turret or B-turret pulse-handle mode bit in the M/C user parameters is set
The NC turret backlash adjustment bit in the M/C system parameters is set
Index commanded before the turret returned to home position after power-on
Turret rotation attempted while the high-pressure brake is applied (B-axis 1/1000 spec)
M65 designated under special motor brake control
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = A turret/B-turret pulse-handle feed mode bit in the machine user parameters is set.; code 2 = The NC turret backlash adjustment bit in the machine system parameters is set.; code 3 = Index commanded before the turret returned to home position after power-on.; code 4 = Rotation attempted while the high-pressure brake is applied (B-axis 1/1000 spec).; code 5 = M65 designated under special motor brake control.
2Read the code on the screen: 1 is a pulse-handle mode bit set, 2 is the backlash adjustment bit set, 3 is index before homing, 4 is rotation blocked by the high-pressure brake, 5 is M65 under special motor brake control.
3For code 1 or 2, open the relevant M/C user or system parameter screen and switch the turret pulse-handle or backlash adjustment bit OFF as the manual directs, then retry indexing.
4For code 3, return the turret to its home position first, then issue the index command again.
5For code 4, adjust the high-pressure brake state so the turret is released and free to rotate before indexing.
6For code 5, remove the M65 designation from the sequence and use the correct brake release procedure for special motor brake control, then index again.
