Okuma OSP Alarm A 1742 - Chuck interlock cancel interlock

Chuck interlock cancel interlock

A chuck open/close interlock release command (M185 for the main spindle chuck, M247 for the sub or pickoff chuck) was executed while a required door was open, or while the spindle was still turning above the safe speed. The control blocks the interlock release to prevent the chuck being opened under unsafe conditions.

Common Causes

  • M185/M247 commanded with the front door or ceiling door open
  • Chuck interlock cancel commanded while the spindle was still rotating above 50 rpm (programming error)
  • G138 designated while the pickoff chuck is open
  • Interlock release commanded with the robot/loader not linked and the ceiling door open (optional release types)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 7 = G138 was designated while the pickoff chuck is open.; code 10 = M185 was issued with the ceiling door open, or the ceiling door opened while an M185 release was pending.; code 11 = Chuck interlock release commanded with robot/loader not linked and ceiling door open (optional release type).; code 12 = Chuck interlock release commanded with robot/loader not linked and ceiling door open (optional release type).; code 13 = Chuck interlock cancel commanded with the front door open and spindle rotating above 50 rpm — programming error; command only below 50 rpm.; code 14 = Front door not closed when M185 or M247 was designated.; code 15 = Ceiling door not closed when M185 or M247 was designated.
  2. 2Read the code shown on screen and branch: Code 14 — close the front door before issuing M185/M247; Code 15 or 10 — close the ceiling door before issuing or while the release command is pending.
  3. 3Code 13 — the spindle was still turning faster than 50 rpm when the cancel command was given; correct the program so the chuck interlock cancel is commanded only after spindle speed has fallen below 50 rpm (this is a programming error per the manual).
  4. 4Code 7 — do not designate G138 while the pickoff chuck is open; close the pickoff chuck first.
  5. 5Code 11 or 12 — on machines with the optional chuck interlock release, confirm the robot/loader link is established and the ceiling door is closed before issuing the release command.
  6. 6If doors are confirmed closed but the alarm still occurs, check the front and ceiling door closed-limit switches and their wiring for a faulty or misadjusted switch.
  7. 7If the cause cannot be isolated, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
