The control commanded an air-chuck state change but did not get the expected answer back from the air pressure confirmation switch. Depending on the code, pressure never built, never vented, the rear chuck circuit misbehaved, or the chuck was operated while the SMW switch was off.

Okuma OSP Alarm A 1744 - Air chuck pressure error
Air chuck pressure error
The control commanded an air-chuck state change but did not get the expected answer back from the air pressure confirmation switch. Depending on the code, pressure never built, never vented, the rear chuck circuit misbehaved, or the chuck was operated while the SMW switch was off.
Common Causes
Low shop air supply, closed valve, regulator set too low, or a leaking chuck/air line
Pressure confirmation switch failed, misadjusted, or its input wiring is loose
Rear air chuck solenoid, check valve, or exhaust path stuck so pressure cannot rise or fall
Chuck open/close attempted with the SMW switch turned OFF
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Chuck air pressure never came up after the command.; code 2 = Chuck air pressure remained high when it should have dropped.; code 3 = Rear air chuck pressure failed to rise.; code 4 = Rear air chuck pressure rose but then would not fall.; code 13 = Open/close was attempted while the SMW switch was OFF.
2Read the code on the alarm screen first and branch on it: Code 1 is no pressure build, Code 2 is pressure not releasing, Codes 3/4 point to the rear air chuck, and Code 13 means the SMW switch was OFF.
3Before opening fittings, shut off and bleed the chuck air circuit so a stored-pressure line cannot whip or the chuck cannot snap.
4For Code 1, verify supply pressure at the chuck regulator, open valves, and listen for leaks at the rotary union, hoses, and chuck body while commanding clamp.
5For Code 2, command unclamp and check that the exhaust path vents; a blocked muffler, stuck solenoid, or failed check valve can keep pressure high.
6For Codes 3 or 4, isolate the rear air chuck circuit and compare its pressure switch response to the front chuck; swap or test the rear pressure confirmation switch and solenoid if the response is inverted or missing.
7For Code 13, turn the SMW switch ON before retrying chuck open/close; if the switch is already ON, check its input signal and wiring.
