The control blocked a parts catcher advance, retract, swing, or guide-axis move because an interlock condition was not satisfied, or an axis/spindle move was commanded while the parts catcher was not safely retracted. The on-screen code identifies exactly which interlock was violated.

Okuma OSP Alarm A 1753 - Parts catcher interlock
Parts catcher interlock
The control blocked a parts catcher advance, retract, swing, or guide-axis move because an interlock condition was not satisfied, or an axis/spindle move was commanded while the parts catcher was not safely retracted. The on-screen code identifies exactly which interlock was violated.
Common Causes
Parts catcher commanded while the Z-axis (or ZB/XB/W-axis on sub-spindle models) is not at its positive end limit or permitted position
Parts catcher commanded with the door open, or a door open/close command issued while the catcher is not raised
Touch setter not at the retract end when the parts catcher move was commanded
Main spindle or sub spindle rotating when the parts catcher advance/retract was commanded
Program issues an axis move while the parts catcher is still at the advance position
Troubleshooting Steps
1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 0 = Advance commanded with Z-axis not at positive end limit, or axis move commanded with catcher advanced; code 1 = Advance commanded with the door not closed; code 2 = Advance/retract commanded with the touch setter not at retract end; code 3 = Advance/retract commanded with the door not closed; code 4 = Advance/retract commanded with ZB not at positive end limit, or ZB moved with catcher not retracted; code 5 = Retract commanded while catcher not at swing-up end or while going down; code 6 = Swing up/down commanded while catcher not at advance end or while retracting; code 7 = Move to receive/retract position commanded while catcher not at advance end or while going up
2Read the code on screen and branch on it: Code 0/12: send XA/ZA to the plus limit before advancing the catcher, and never move axes with the catcher advanced. Code 1/3/25: close the door first. Code 2/36/42: retract the touch setter to its retract end first.
3Code 4/26/43/44: move ZB (or XB) to the positive end limit and confirm the catcher is at the retract end before any axis move. Code 5-11: check the catcher's swing-up/down, advance-end, and guide-axis retract-end sequence — each motion is only allowed from the position named in the code.
4Code 13/15/24: confirm the main spindle (or sub spindle) is fully stopped before commanding the parts catcher; do not command spindle rotation while the catcher is advanced.
5Code 16/17/18: verify the shot-work confirmation input is ON in automatic operation before door open/close or catcher raise commands.
6Code 21/22/23/27/30-35/40/41 (sub-spindle, swing-slide, LT models): position XB, ZB, or W within the permitted range — ZB workpiece chuting position is set at parameter (long word) No. 1 and the W-axis enabled range at parameter (long word) No. 2 — before commanding the catcher.
7If the commanded positions are correct but the alarm persists, check the parts catcher advance-end/retract-end and swing position confirmation switches and their wiring for a signal that is not reaching the control.
