Okuma OSP Alarm A 1769 - Sub-spindle index interlock

Sub-spindle index interlock

A sub-spindle orientation (index) command was issued while the main spindle and sub-spindle were still in synchronous control mode. Orientation cannot be executed during spindle synchronization, so the control interlocked the command.

Common Causes

  • Program error: M19 orientation commanded while spindle synchronization (G141/M151 mode) is still active
  • Synchronization mode not cancelled before the sub-spindle orientation command in the part program

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 6 = Main and sub spindles are in synchronous control mode, so sub-spindle orientation is not permitted.
  2. 2Confirm code 6 is displayed, meaning the main and sub spindles are under synchronous control when the orientation command was issued.
  3. 3Search the program for the M19 (orientation) command and check whether spindle synchronization (e.g. G141/M151 sequence) is still in effect at that block.
  4. 4Insert the synchronization-cancel command before the M19 block so orientation is only commanded after synchronous mode is released, following the manual's program example structure.
  5. 5Run the corrected sequence in single block to verify synchronization is cancelled before orientation executes.
  6. 6If the alarm returns with a corrected program, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
