Okuma OSP Alarm A 1773 - Unable to restore axis position when door closed

Unable to restore axis position when door closed

On a CE-marking machine, the magnet switches in the high-precision VAC and servo amplifier turn off when the door opens and back on when the reset switch is pressed or the door closes. This alarm means an axis or spindle moved at least 0.5 mm (0.36 degrees for spindles) from where it was when the magnet switch turned off, so position cannot be safely restored.

Common Causes

  • An axis was jogged or pushed while the door was open and the magnet switches were off
  • A spindle under orient-stop, synchronized rotation or flat turning drifted while power was off
  • External force moved an axis (crane loading, operator pushing) during the door-open period

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the object to see whether SYSTEM, AXIS or M-TOOL SPINDLE failed the check, and note which axis or spindle moved.
  2. 2Return the named feed axis (including a spindle under C-axis control) to within 0.5 mm of the position it had when the magnet switch turned off.
  3. 3For a spindle or M-tool spindle in orient-stop, synchronized rotation or flat turning, return it to within 0.36 degrees (equivalent to 0.5 mm) of its switch-off position.
  4. 4Avoid jogging or loading parts with the door open; if the axis was moved by external force, re-establish the reference by homing the axis.
  5. 5Close the door and press the reset switch, then confirm the magnet switches turn on and the alarm clears with all axes within the allowed 0.5 mm window.
