Okuma OSP Alarm A 1737 - Turret unclamp interlock

Turret unclamp interlock

A G00 rapid traverse block was executed without the M203 (turret unclamp) command in the same block, or with special motor brake control an M203 was designated where it is not allowed. This is a programming/MDI command error related to turret clamp/unclamp sequencing.

Common Causes

  • Program error: G00 block missing the required M203 command
  • MDI command error: G00 entered without M203
  • M203 designated in a block where special motor brake control forbids it (code 1)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code None = M203 command was not designated in the block containing G00; code 1 = M203 was designated while special motor brake control applies, where it is not permitted
  2. 2Read the code: no code means the G00 block lacked M203; code 1 means M203 was designated under special motor brake control where it must not be used.
  3. 3Locate the offending block in the program (or the last MDI line) and check whether the G00 move includes M203.
  4. 4Correct the program following the manual's pattern, e.g. pair the rapid move with M203 in the same block: 'G00 X500 Z800 M203' before the next positioning/tool block.
  5. 5For code 1, remove the M203 designation from the block controlled by the special motor brake control.
  6. 6Re-run from a safe point and confirm the turret clamps/unclamps correctly through the corrected blocks.
