Okuma OSP Alarm A 1732 - Turret rotation interlock

Turret rotation interlock

A turret index command was issued while one of the turret rotation permission conditions was not satisfied. The two-digit code identifies exactly which interlock blocked the index, such as tool clamp confirmation, touch setter position, Y-axis position, or tailstock connection.

Common Causes

  • Facing/OD tool clamp confirmation proximity switch OFF, its wiring damaged, or the clamp hydraulic solenoid valve faulty
  • Tool left projected for tool change or manual loading/unloading
  • YS-axis below spindle center (Y-axis machines) when indexing commanded
  • Laser sensor not retracted or its retract confirmation LS faulty (laser C-axis offset machines)
  • B-turret in the interference area with the main spindle chuck, or B-turret index switch OFF

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Index commanded with facing/OD tool clamp confirmation signal OFF; code 2 = T-command issued while touch setter is in advance position; code 4 = Index commanded with YS-axis below spindle center (Y-axis machines); code 5 = Index commanded while simple tow-along tailstock is connected (NC turret); code 8 = YS-axis below the spindle center position set in the system parameter; code 10 = Exchange arm not at perpendicular or retract position; code 12 = Laser sensor retract confirmation input OFF (laser C-axis zero offset machines); code 13 = Non-indexable position commanded with long tool (ML) on T1 or in-machine touch sensor fitted
  2. 2Read the code on screen and branch: Code 1/15 = clamp confirmation signal OFF; Code 2 = touch setter advanced; Code 4/8 = YS-axis below spindle center; Code 5 = tow-along tailstock connected; Code 17/19/22 = B-turret interference/prohibit/switch off; Code 12 = laser sensor not retracted.
  3. 3For Code 1 or 15: retract any projected tool, then check the facing/OD tool clamp confirmation proximity switch, its signal wire, and the hydraulic clamp solenoid valve in that order.
  4. 4For Code 4 or 8: move the YS-axis above the spindle center position before commanding the turret index.
  5. 5For Code 2: retract the touch setter from its advance position; for Code 12: confirm the laser sensor is retracted and check the retract confirmation limit switch.
  6. 6For Code 17/27: move the B/A-turret out of the interference area with the spindle chuck; for Code 22: turn the B-turret index switch ON.
  7. 7For Code 18: clamp the finger chuck and move the X/Z axis to the positive limit before indexing; for Code 29: position the turret at the X/Z plus variable limit in manual mode.
  8. 8If the interlock condition is correct but the alarm persists, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
