Okuma OSP Alarm A 1707 - Stroke end over

Stroke end over

An axis has traveled onto or past its stroke end (emergency) limit. Depending on the code, this involves the turret on an X/Z command, the X-axis during Y-axis movement, an axis sent by an M273 home-position command, or the work rest on a W-axis command.

Common Causes

  • Operation or programming error commanding an axis beyond its travel
  • Soft-limit positions set outside the actual stroke end limit positions
  • Stroke end limit switch held on by chips or foreign matter

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code None = The turret hit the stroke end limit on an X- or Z-axis command; code 1 = During Y-axis movement (Y-axis equipped machine), the X-axis hit the stroke end limit; code 2 = An axis hit the stroke end limit on an M273 HP (home position) command; code 3 = The work rest hit the stroke end limit on a W-axis command
  2. 2Read the alarm code: no code = turret hit the limit on an X/Z command; 1 = X-axis hit the limit during Y-axis movement; 2 = an axis hit the limit via an M273 HP command; 3 = the work rest hit the limit on a W-axis command.
  3. 3In manual mode, hold the emergency limit release switch on the control box ON while pressing reset, then use the pulse handle to move the axis away from the emergency limit position.
  4. 4On machines with the new LT control specification, simply move the axis in the direction away from the stroke end limit.
  5. 5Once clear of the limit, return the emergency limit release switch to its original OFF position and re-establish (reset) the soft-limit positions.
  6. 6Verify the soft-limit settings are inside the actual stroke end limit positions; correct them if they were set beyond the hardware limits.
  7. 7Inspect the stroke end limit switches for chips or foreign matter holding a switch actuated, clean them, and confirm the switches operate correctly.
