Okuma OSP Alarm A 1705 - Oil pressure low

Oil pressure low

The hydraulic oil pressure low signal stayed ON for more than 2 seconds, or the oil motor was not running when pressure was required. Hydraulic functions (chuck, turret, magazine) cannot be relied on until pressure is restored.

Common Causes

  • Low hydraulic oil level in the tank
  • Hydraulic power unit motor not running or failed
  • Clogged suction or pressure filter
  • Faulty pressure switch giving a false low-pressure signal

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Hydraulic oil pressure low signal stayed ON for 2 seconds; code 2 = The oil motor is not ON; code 3 = Magazine oil pressure low signal stayed ON for 2 seconds
  2. 2Read the code: Code 1 = hydraulic pressure low signal held ON for 2 s; Code 2 = the oil motor is not ON; Code 3 = magazine oil pressure low signal held ON for 2 s.
  3. 3Check the hydraulic unit tank sight glass and top up with the specified oil if the level is low.
  4. 4For Code 2, confirm the hydraulic power unit motor is actually running; if not, check its breaker/overload and the motor itself before suspecting the control.
  5. 5Inspect the hydraulic filter for clogging and replace the element if dirty; a blocked filter starves the pump and drops pressure.
  6. 6If oil level, motor and filter are good, verify the pressure switch operation and its wiring, since a stuck switch will hold the low signal ON.
  7. 7If pressure still cannot be established, record the alarm number and code and contact Okuma service.
