Okuma OSP Alarm A 1469 - APA speed XS-axis

APA speed XS-axis

The actual position velocity of the Xs-axis (cam/synchronized axis) exceeded 15 m/min. Either the position encoder is misreading or the command given in synchronization mode is too large for the axis to follow safely.

Common Causes

  • Faulty position encoder on the Xs-axis
  • Command given in the synchronization mode too large (cam profile too aggressive)
  • Spindle speed too high for the programmed cam profile

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code hex value = Hexadecimal of APA velocity in 0.2 um/s units.
  2. 2Read the code: it is the hexadecimal of the APA velocity in 0.2 um/s units, so convert it to see how far above 15 m/min the Xs-axis went.
  3. 3Check the position encoder on the Xs-axis as the manual directs: inspect its cable, connector and mounting, and substitute a known-good encoder if readings look erratic.
  4. 4Review the cutting condition such as the cam profile and spindle speed as the manual suggests; a profile that demands more than 15 m/min of Xs-axis velocity must be slowed.
  5. 5Reduce the spindle speed or smooth the cam profile so the synchronized command stays within the Xs-axis velocity capability, then re-run the cycle and monitor APA velocity.
