Okuma OSP Alarm A 1488 - PSCB Overheat

PSCB Overheat

The cam-axis drive motor or its servo amplifier has overheated. Either the motor's thermal protector tripped from sustained overcurrent, or the amplifier heat sink exceeded its temperature limit.

Common Causes

  • Cam-axis motor thermal protector tripped due to overcurrent (overload, binding axis, excessive duty)
  • Servo amplifier heat sink overheated (blocked cooling, fan failure, high ambient temperature)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop the machine and let it cool: turn the power off, wait several tens of minutes, then turn it back on as the manual directs.
  2. 2While cooling, check for the cause of motor overcurrent: verify the cam axis moves freely with no mechanical binding or obstruction.
  3. 3Check the servo amplifier cooling path — clean the heat sink and air filters and confirm any cooling fans run.
  4. 4Verify the machine's ambient temperature and cabinet ventilation are adequate before returning to heavy cam-axis duty.
  5. 5If the overheat recurs under normal load, record the alarm number and contact Okuma service.
