Okuma OSP Alarm A 1525 - M-tool spindle speed over in Hob mode

M-tool spindle speed over in Hob mode

While running in Hob mode, the live-tool (M-tool) spindle speed exceeded a permissible rotational speed. The control blocked the overspeed condition to protect the driven tool and its gearing.

Common Causes

  • SB command value in the program set higher than the M-tool spindle permissible rotational speed
  • Set value of O.P.L No.194 configured too high for the hobbing setup

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the SB command value in the active program block and compare it against the permissible rotational speed for the M-tool spindle in Hob mode on your machine.
  2. 2Reduce the SB command in the program so the commanded live-tool speed stays within the permissible rotational speed limit.
  3. 3Review the set value of O.P.L No.194 and correct it if it allows a speed above what the hobbing tooling and machine are rated for.
  4. 4Rerun the hobbing cycle at the corrected speed and watch the M-tool spindle load and temperature for the first parts.
