Okuma OSP Alarm A 1530 - Steady-rests interference position

Steady-rests interference position

The steady-rests, tail stock, or W-axis moved past the interference position, meaning two of these devices tried to occupy overlapping space. The control stops the motion to prevent a collision between them.

Common Causes

  • Program error moving the steady-rests, tail stock, or W-axis into the interference range
  • Interference range parameter not set correctly for the current setup

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Axis position exceeded the minimal distance of the interference range; code 2 = Axis position exceeded the maximum distance of the interference range
  2. 2Read the code: 1 means the axis position exceeded the minimal distance, 2 means it exceeded the maximum distance of the interference range.
  3. 3Identify which devices were involved (steady-rests, tail stock, or W-axis) and the program block executing at the alarm.
  4. 4Check the movement command of the axis as the manual directs: correct the program so the devices keep the required separation.
  5. 5Set the interference range parameter correctly as the manual directs, matching the actual machine geometry and device positions.
  6. 6Rerun the corrected sequence slowly in single block and watch the relative positions of the steady-rests, tail stock, and W-axis.
