Okuma OSP Alarm A 1517 - Turret or tool not at index cut position

Turret or tool not at index cut position

A manual gauging cycle was executed while the turret or tool was not at the index cut position, or the turret itself is not at its index cut position. Gauging requires a known, indexed tool position to produce valid measurements.

Common Causes

  • Manual gauging cycle started with turret not indexed to the cut position
  • Manual gauging cycle started with the tool not at the index cut position
  • Cursor offset setting error in the manual gauging screen

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = Turret not at index cut position; code 2 = Manual gauging cycle executed with turret not at index cut position; code 3 = Manual gauging cycle executed with tool not at index cut position; code 4 = Manual gauging cycle executed with cursor offset setting error
  2. 2Read the code: 1 turret not at index cut position, 2 manual gauging executed with turret not at index cut position, 3 manual gauging executed with tool not at index cut position, 4 manual gauging executed with a cursor offset setting error.
  3. 3Index the turret to the correct cut position and confirm the index-complete state before starting the manual gauging cycle.
  4. 4For code 3, set the tool to the cut position on the turret, then rerun gauging.
  5. 5For code 4, correct the cursor offset value on the manual gauging setting screen to a valid value.
  6. 6For code 1 with everything apparently indexed correctly, the manual directs contacting Okuma, as NC software failure is listed as the probable cause.
