KUKA Robot KRC0548 - Centering error

Centering error

The workpiece is not positioned or clamped correctly within the fixture, preventing successful centering operation. This alarm typically results from mechanical issues in the feed equipment or degradation of the clamping fixture that holds the glass or workpiece during processing.

Common Causes

  • Feed equipment conveyor misaligned or offset, delivering workpiece to incorrect position in fixture
  • Fixture clamping mechanism worn or damaged, no longer maintaining repeatable workpiece position
  • Proximity sensor or position verification sensor on the feed line not detecting workpiece arrival or incorrect placement
  • Mechanical vibration or play in the fixture mounting bracket or base causing positional drift during operation
  • Workpiece size or geometry variation exceeding the tolerance window defined in the centering program parameters

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Manually verify that the workpiece is seated correctly in the fixture and check for any obstruction or misalignment
  2. 2Run the feed equipment independently and observe whether workpieces are consistently delivered to the correct position
  3. 3Test the workpiece detection sensor using WorkVisual input diagnostics to confirm it triggers at the expected moment
  4. 4Mechanically inspect the clamping fixture for wear, cracks, or bent components and measure critical fixture dimensions
  5. 5Re-verify the centering program parameters in KRL match the current fixture tolerance and workpiece geometry specifications
  6. 6If mechanical damage is found, repair or replace the fixture components and perform a fixture offset recalibration using the KUKA smartPAD
