KUKA Robot KRC0547 - Vacuum error

Vacuum error

The vacuum system required for glass handling applications is not generating sufficient negative pressure or is completely absent. Without adequate vacuum, the end-effector cannot maintain proper grip on glass workpieces after centering, resulting in potential product loss or safety hazards.

Common Causes

  • Vacuum pump failure or motor not starting due to electrical or mechanical fault
  • Vacuum supply hose disconnected, kinked, or damaged, breaking the sealed circuit
  • Suction cup or vacuum gripper element has lost seal due to wear, cracks, or contamination
  • Vacuum filter element blocked with dust and debris preventing proper air flow to pump
  • Vacuum pressure switch or sensor malfunction causing PLC to report false vacuum error condition

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the vacuum pump is receiving power and listen for motor operation during SafeOperation startup
  2. 2Visually inspect all vacuum hoses and connections for disconnection, kinks, or visible damage that would break the seal
  3. 3Test vacuum level at the source using a calibrated vacuum gauge connected directly to the pump outlet
  4. 4Remove and inspect suction cups or vacuum gripper elements for cracks, hardening, or contamination on the sealing surface
  5. 5Check and replace the vacuum filter element if it appears saturated or darkened from accumulated moisture and particles
  6. 6Calibrate or replace the vacuum pressure transducer in WorkVisual if actual measured vacuum does not match the PLC sensor reading
