KUKA Robot KRC0552 - Channel assigned to PLC

Channel assigned to PLC

This alarm occurs when a KRL program attempts to access a communication channel that has already been assigned and configured for PLC link communication. The channel resource is exclusively reserved for PLC interface operations and cannot be reassigned to another function or signal definition.

Common Causes

  • Multiple SIGNAL declarations assigned to the same PLC communication channel in KRL code
  • Attempting to reuse a channel already configured in WorkVisual for PLC messaging
  • Channel assignment conflict between different program modules or function blocks
  • PLC link configuration in KRC4 control system reserves channel before KRL program tries to access it
  • Incorrect channel numbering leading to duplicate assignment of the same physical channel resource

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the KRL program and identify all SIGNAL declarations to verify no duplicate channel assignments exist
  2. 2Check the WorkVisual project configuration to confirm which channels are reserved for PLC communication
  3. 3Open the system configuration file and cross-reference all channel allocations between PLC link and program signals
  4. 4Use the KUKA smartPAD to navigate to Diagnosis and check the active channel assignments in real-time
  5. 5Reassign conflicting signals to available channels that are not reserved for PLC interface communication
  6. 6Recompile the KRL program and perform a full system reset through the KRC4 controller to clear channel allocation cache
