KUKA Robot KRC0553 - Timeout during filling

Timeout during filling

This alarm indicates that the adhesive dispensing unit failed to complete its fill cycle within the maximum allowed time threshold. The PLC monitoring system detected a timeout condition, signaling a potential hardware malfunction in the adhesive application equipment or its pneumatic/hydraulic supply system.

Common Causes

  • Adhesive supply line is blocked, kinked, or has insufficient pressure from the supply source
  • Dispenser valve solenoid is faulty or not receiving proper electrical activation signal from PLC
  • Adhesive has cured or become too viscous within the supply line or dispenser chamber
  • PLC timeout parameter is configured too aggressively for the specific adhesive type and dispenser capacity
  • Dispenser nozzle or internal passages are partially or completely clogged with dried adhesive residue

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify that the adhesive supply pressure at the dispenser inlet meets the equipment manufacturer specifications
  2. 2Inspect the entire adhesive supply line for kinks, blockages, or disconnections that restrict flow
  3. 3Use a multimeter to test continuity and voltage at the dispenser solenoid valve connector to confirm PLC signal delivery
  4. 4Manually activate the dispenser solenoid valve using the KUKA smartPAD test function to verify mechanical operation
  5. 5Clean or replace the dispenser nozzle and flush internal passages with appropriate solvent recommended by the adhesive manufacturer
  6. 6Adjust the PLC fill timeout parameter in the SafeOperation configuration to allow additional time, then verify correct pressure and validate with test cycles
