KUKA Robot KRC0554 - Adhesive level

Adhesive level

This alarm indicates that the adhesive supply drum or cartridge monitored by the KRC controller's adhesive dispensing system has reached a critically low or empty level. The robot controller detects this condition through a level sensor on the adhesive reservoir and halts dispensing operations to prevent application of insufficient or degraded adhesive. This safety measure ensures process quality and prevents potential part defects from adhesive starvation.

Common Causes

  • Adhesive drum or cartridge is completely depleted and requires replacement
  • Adhesive level sensor is dirty, obstructed, or misaligned causing false empty reading
  • Level sensor connector is loose, corroded, or disconnected from the KRC input module
  • Adhesive supply line is kinked, blocked, or has air lock preventing proper level detection
  • Sensor calibration has drifted or sensor has malfunctioned and requires replacement

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the physical adhesive drum or cartridge level visually and replace if empty or below minimum threshold
  2. 2Clean the adhesive level sensor window and surrounding area to remove any residue, dust, or adhesive buildup affecting sensor reading
  3. 3Inspect the sensor connector at the KRC controller input module for loose connections, corrosion, or damage and reseat firmly
  4. 4Check the adhesive supply line for kinks, blockages, or air pockets; bleed air from the system if necessary following manufacturer guidelines
  5. 5In the KRC teach pendant, navigate to Diagnostic > Inputs and verify the level sensor signal transitions when adhesive level changes; replace sensor if reading remains constant
  6. 6Clear the alarm code from the controller once the adhesive drum is replaced and sensor verification is complete; perform a test cycle to confirm normal operation
