KUKA Robot KRC0561 - Hydraulic level

Hydraulic level

The hydraulic system oil level has dropped below the minimum threshold, triggering a safety alarm in the KUKA KRC controller. This condition prevents normal robot operation as adequate hydraulic fluid is critical for maintaining system pressure and actuator performance. The alarm indicates a potential leak, fluid loss, or consumption issue that requires immediate attention before the robot can resume operation.

Common Causes

  • Internal or external hydraulic system leaks in hoses, seals, or connectors
  • Excessive hydraulic fluid consumption due to worn pump or cylinder seals
  • Fluid spillage during maintenance or refilling procedures
  • Evaporation or degradation of hydraulic fluid due to prolonged operation at high temperatures
  • Faulty hydraulic level sensor providing incorrect readings or stuck float mechanism

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop robot operation immediately and ensure the teach pendant is in safe mode to prevent accidental movement
  2. 2Visually inspect all hydraulic lines, connectors, hoses, and cylinder rod seals for signs of leakage or dripping fluid
  3. 3Check the hydraulic reservoir fill level using the sight glass or level indicator on the system; compare against the minimum and maximum marked levels
  4. 4If fluid level is low, top up with the specified KUKA hydraulic fluid (typically HLP46 or equivalent) and re-test the level sensor response
  5. 5If leaks are detected, isolate and repair or replace damaged components; pressure test the system after repairs to ensure integrity
  6. 6Clear the alarm through the KUKA KRC teach pendant menu and verify the alarm does not immediately recur; contact KUKA service if the issue persists
