Okuma OSP Alarm A 8512 - Turret position uncertain

Turret position uncertain

On an H1-turret specification machine the turret is not positioned anywhere in the 0 to 359.999 degree range, or it is outside the stroke end limit, so the control does not know a valid turret position. Indexing is blocked until the turret position is made certain.

Common Causes

  • Turret sensor offset value not set correctly
  • Turret rotated outside the stroke end limit
  • Turret position sensor fault or misadjustment
  • Loss of turret reference after power loss or mechanical work

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the current turret position display; if the turret sits outside the stroke end limit, manually rotate or jog it back within the allowed range first.
  2. 2Verify the turret sensor offset value; the manual directs setting the turret sensor offset correctly so the sensed position matches the actual turret station.
  3. 3Inspect the turret position sensor and its wiring for damage or loose connections that could give a false position reading.
  4. 4Set the stroke end limit values correctly as the manual directs, then re-home or index the turret through a full station cycle and confirm each station reads a valid position between 0 and 359.999 degrees.
