Okuma OSP Alarm A 8511 - B-axis clamp/unclamp interlock

B-axis clamp/unclamp interlock

On a Macturn machine, a B-axis clamp command was issued while the B-axis was stopped at an angle other than 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees, or a B-axis clamp/unclamp (M404/M403) was commanded while the turret was at the ATC index position. The clamp can only engage at the valid index angles, so the command is rejected to protect the clamp mechanism.

Common Causes

  • Program error: B-axis clamp commanded at a non-index angle
  • B-axis clamp/unclamp (M404/M403) commanded while the turret is at the ATC position

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code 1 = B-axis clamp commanded while the B-axis was at an angle other than 0/90/180/270 degrees; code 2 = B-axis clamp/unclamp (M404/M403) commanded while the turret was at the ATC place-divided position
  2. 2Read the code. Code 1: correct the program so the B-axis is positioned to 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees (or a valid turret curvic pitch position) before the B-axis clamp command is issued.
  3. 3Code 2: move the turret away from the ATC place-divided position before issuing B-axis clamp/unclamp (M404/M403).
  4. 4After correcting the program, rerun the block and confirm the clamp command is only executed at a valid B-axis angle.
